A client who pays thousands of dollars for an installation is not buying hair. She is buying your judgment. She may not be able to name the difference between a machine seam and a hand-finished one. She will feel it within weeks, and she will attach what she feels to your name. This is how we choose hair for our own clients in East Islip, and what we look for when we sell it to other stylists.
The hair carries your name
When an install disappoints, the client rarely blames the hair. She blames the stylist who chose it. She is paying for the selection as much as the install. We install what we sell, so we judge hair the way a paying client does: weeks after she leaves the chair, not the day the box arrives.
What clients actually judge
Clients notice four things.

Movement. Does the hair swing and settle like her own, or does it hang? Hair with the cuticle intact and aligned in one direction is the starting point for natural movement.

Blend. Shade matched to her mid-lengths and ends, not her roots, and a texture that sits with hers. A loose natural S-wave blends with most natural textures. A true natural straight with a soft bend at the ends reads as hers. The raw options of our traditional straight wefts hold a set curl and return to straight afterwards.

Comfort. What she feels when she lies down, ties her hair up, or runs her fingers along the seam. A thick machine track, or return hair pressing against the scalp, is what she will complain about.

How it wears to the move-up. Day one is not the test. The test is the weeks between install and move-up, through washing, heat and sleep.
Hair selection: raw versus processed
Our Genius Wefts are 100% raw, unprocessed single-donor human hair: cuticle intact and aligned in one direction, no synthetic fibers, no acid bath, no silicone coating. Our traditional sewn-in wefts are cut from one donor and wefted, and their Natural Virgin Black and Soft Brown options are raw and never dyed.
Raw matters for two reasons a high-ticket client will feel.
Toning. Hair that has never been chemically processed can be toned or lifted by a stylist. Jet Black 1B is different. It has been color-processed to reach 1B. It suits a client who wants a uniform jet black, and it should never be described to her as raw, virgin or unprocessed. If the plan includes toning or lifting, start with a raw shade.
Longevity. Genius Wefts wear for 6–12 months with proper care, through multiple move-ups. Premium Tape-In Extensions wear up to 12 months with proper care and re-taping at move-ups. We do not publish a lifespan for our traditional sewn-in wefts.
Construction for the install
The client feels construction long before she understands it.

Seam thickness. Genius Wefts are hand-finished and measure 0.8 mm thick at the seam and 1.7 mm tall, the flattest weft construction we offer. No bulky track, no thick machine seam.

Return hair. Genius Wefts have none, so nothing presses against the scalp.

Cut to width. A weft you can cut to fit any width without unraveling lets you build the install to the client's head. Genius Wefts are made this way. A licensed stylist installs them with beads and thread, and they can be moved up and reinstalled multiple times.

Tape tabs. Premium Tape-In Extensions come pre-attached to thin adhesive tape tabs that sandwich a small section of the client's hair for a flat placement. Each pack is 50 g and 20 pieces. The tape can be reused when it is properly removed and re-taped at the move-up.
Consistency from order to order
A stylist's second order matters more than the first. Your client came back and expects the hair to match what she already wears.
Made to order. Each traditional weft order is individualized to the length, shade and luster level you specify. Genius Wefts are made to order as well. Both ship in 1–3 business days; during major sales, processing can take up to 7 business days. You are choosing hair for one client, not accepting whatever is on a shelf. Processing begins immediately and orders cannot be modified or canceled once submitted, so confirm length and shade with the client first.
Ordering in one transaction. Raw single-donor hair varies slightly from donor to donor in exact tone and wave pattern. That is the signature of real single-donor hair, not a defect. It also means you should order everything a client needs for an install in one transaction. A top-up ordered later may come from a different donor, so expect a slight difference in tone or wave.
Density and luster matched to the client
Density is a decision, not a default. Genius Wefts run approximately 50 g per weft. One weft is a partial or added density. Two wefts, about 100 g, is the standard full install for fine to medium hair. Three wefts, about 150 g, cover thick or coarse hair, a big length change or maximum density.
For Premium Tape-In Extensions, each pack is 50 g:
- Two packs (100 g): a full head with natural volume at 18"–20".
- Three packs (150 g): fullness and length at 22"–24".
- Four to five packs (200–250 g): XL length and fullness at 24"–30".
- Five to six packs (250–300 g): XL length and fullness at 30" and up.
Luster is the finish that makes the hair read as hers, or not. Our traditional sewn-in wefts come in three luster levels: Silky / Fine, Balanced / Medium and Dense / Coarse. Choose the one that matches the client's own hair density and finish. A client with fine, silky hair wearing Dense / Coarse wefts will look like she is wearing extensions, however well you hide the seam.
Questions to ask any hair supplier
Ask any supplier these questions, including us, before their hair goes on a paying client.
- Is the hair raw, or has it been color-processed? Which shades are dyed?
- Is it single donor, with the cuticle intact and aligned in one direction?
- Has it been through an acid bath or coated in silicone?
- How thick is the seam? Is there return hair? Can I cut the weft to width without it unraveling?
- Is it made to order or pulled from stock? What lengths, textures and luster levels can I specify?
- What lifespan do you publish, and for which products do you not publish one?
- Do you install this hair yourselves?
- Who answers when I have a question about a specific client?
- What are the return terms?
Where we do not publish a number, such as weight per weft or lifespan for our traditional wefts, we say so rather than guess. Our return terms: requests within 7 days of receipt, with the hair in its original, unaltered condition.
