Choose your method

Five ways to wear our hair, from a sewn-in weft to a piece you put on yourself. Here is how they differ and how to pick one.

We have installed extensions in East Islip since 2011 and sell the hair we install. Three of these methods are put in by a stylist and worn continuously. Two you put on and take off yourself. None is better than another; each suits a different head of hair and a different routine.

Each method below is laid out the same way: the hair, who installs it, how it is worn, who it suits and what it needs from you. If you are unsure after reading, send us three photos of your natural hair and we will point you to the right method before you buy.

The traditional sewn-in weft, made to order for volume and comfort. Lengths 16" to 30", Straight or Wavy, three shades, and three luster levels (Silky/Fine, Balanced/Medium, Dense/Coarse) so the finish matches your own hair. Send photos and we will recommend how much to order.

50 g packs of 20 pieces, 18" to 30", Straight or Wavy. Two packs: full head at natural volume in 18" to 20". Three: fullness and length at 22" to 24". Four or more: XL length. Properly removed pieces are re-taped and reused at move-ups.

One piece on an invisible, adjustable wire that rests just above the crown under your hair. Nothing clamps or glues to the roots: no tension, no traction damage. No salon visit, install fee or move-ups. Match the shade to your ends, not your roots.

How to choose

Start with the result you want

  1. 01

Start with your goal: volume or length

Volume alone needs less hair. One or two Genius Wefts, a 150 g clip-in set or The Halo all add fullness. Luxury Wefts are made for volume too, in an amount matched to your hair. A real length change takes more grams: three Genius Wefts, three or more tape packs, or a 200 g to 300 g clip-in set.

  2. 02

Decide how much commitment you want

Installed methods (Genius Wefts, Luxury Wefts, tape-ins) stay in around the clock and are looked after by your stylist. Genius Wefts and tape-ins are moved up and reinstalled as your hair grows. Clip-ins come out every night. The Halo is on in about 60 seconds and off at night, with no move-ups at all.

  3. 03

Look at your density and length

Fine to medium hair does well with the flat 0.8 mm seam of Genius Wefts. The Halo also suits it, provided your hair reaches at least bust length to cover the wire. Thick hair often needs three Genius Wefts, or Luxury Straight Wefts with the luster level matched to your own density and finish. Thinning hair: Luxury Natural Wavy Wefts or a Natural Wavy clip-in set.

  4. 04

Ask whether you have a stylist

If you already have a stylist, all five methods are open to you. If not, clip-ins and The Halo need no appointment. Our salon in East Islip also installs by appointment, Tuesday to Saturday, in English and Spanish.

  5. 05

Think about cost over time, not just today

Installed methods add a stylist's time at the start and at each maintenance visit, though Genius Wefts and tape-ins are reinstalled rather than replaced. Clip-ins and The Halo have no install fee or move-ups, and clip-in sets are reusable for years with care. Installment plans are available at checkout.

Method questions

What is the difference between Genius Wefts and Luxury Wefts?

Both are sewn in by a stylist. Genius Wefts are hand-finished, 0.8 mm at the seam with no return hair, and cut to any width. Each is about 50 g, in 18" to 22" and two raw shades. Luxury Wefts are the traditional sewn-in track, made to order in 16" to 30", three shades including dyed Jet Black 1B, and three luster levels. Read more in what determines hair extension quality.

Do I need a stylist?

For Genius Wefts, Luxury Wefts and tape-ins, yes. They are installed and maintained by a stylist. Clip-ins and The Halo need no professional installation. If you would like us to install, reserve your set at the salon in East Islip.

How much hair do I need?

It depends on your density and the change you want. The standard full install for fine to medium hair is two Genius Wefts (about 100 g). Two tape packs (100 g) cover a full head at natural volume in 18" to 20"; three or more add fullness and length at 22" and up. Clip-in sets start at 150 g for volume and 200 g for length. The Halo is one 95 g piece. Our guide how much hair do I need goes deeper, or send photos and we will tell you.

Which shade should I choose?

Match the shade to the mid-lengths and ends of your hair, not the roots. Natural Virgin Black and Soft Brown are raw donor shades and vary slightly from bundle to bundle. Jet Black 1B is a dyed black, not a raw shade. Tape-ins and The Halo come in their natural donor shade. A daylight photo lets us confirm the match before you buy. See choosing your shade and texture.

Can the hair be colored?

Raw shades can be toned or lifted by a stylist; The Halo no more than two levels. Tape-in hair is not dyed and can be color treated the same way. Jet Black 1B has already been color-processed. Ask us before coloring if you are unsure.

How soon will my hair ship?

Genius Wefts, Luxury Wefts, tape-ins and The Halo ship within 1–3 business days of your order, or up to 7 business days during major promotions. Premium Clip-In Extensions are custom made and ship 2–3 weeks after ordering. Natural Wavy Clip-In Extensions take 5–10 business days to arrive. Shipping is calculated at checkout; US orders of $300 or more ship free with the Standard rate. Full details are in our shipping policy.
